Editorial Policy

Toronto GTA News is an independent digital publication covering Toronto, the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Quebec and Canada. This page explains how we choose, report and correct our stories.

What we cover

Local and regional news, real estate and housing, personal finance, health, technology, travel, entertainment and the trending topics people across Canada are talking about. Our focus is practical: stories that help readers understand what is happening and what it means for them.

Accuracy and sourcing

  • We rely on primary sources whenever possible: governments, municipalities, courts, regulators, Statistics Canada, the Bank of Canada, real estate boards and official company statements.
  • We name our sources and link to them so readers can check our work.
  • Numbers such as prices, rates and statistics include the period they refer to.
  • We do not publish rumours as fact. Trending stories are verified before publication.

Health, money and legal topics

Articles on health, finance, real estate and legal subjects are written for general information and reviewed against official Canadian sources such as Health Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial governments. They are not a substitute for professional advice.

Independence

Our editorial decisions are not influenced by advertisers. Advertising and sponsored content, when present, are clearly labelled and kept separate from news coverage. We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable coverage.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and add a note to the article explaining what changed. To report an error, email contact@torontogtanews.com with the subject “Correction”.

Updates

Evergreen guides, such as housing outlooks and money guides, are reviewed regularly. The date at the top of each article shows when it was last updated.
