Instagram Stories are a quick way to share a day out, an event or a trip. Instead of posting one photo at a time, you can upload several at once or combine them into a single slide. Here are the main methods. Instagram updates its app often, so button names may vary slightly.
Method 1: Upload several photos as separate story slides
- Open Instagram and tap the + button, then choose Story, or swipe right from your feed.
- Tap the gallery preview in the bottom corner.
- Tap Select (the multiple-selection icon).
- Choose your photos and videos in the order you want them to appear.
- Tap Next. You can edit each slide individually or keep them as they are.
- Tap Your story to share.
Each photo or video becomes its own slide. Long videos are split into shorter segments automatically.
Method 2: Combine photos in one slide with Layout
- Open the Story camera.
- Tap the Layout icon on the left side.
- Choose a grid (for example, two, four or six frames).
- Fill each frame by taking a photo or tapping the gallery icon.
- Tap the check mark, add text or stickers, then share.
Method 3: Add photos with the photo sticker
- Start a story with a background photo or colour.
- Tap the sticker icon and choose the photo (gallery) sticker.
- Select an image; it appears as a sticker you can resize and move.
- Repeat to create a collage.
Tips for better stories
- Tell a story: arrange slides in a logical order, from start to finish.
- Keep text readable: use high-contrast colours and avoid placing text at the very top or bottom of the screen.
- Add location and mention tags to help local businesses and friends find your content.
- Save to Highlights so your best stories stay on your profile after 24 hours.
- Check your audience: use Close Friends for personal moments.
Privacy reminder
Think before sharing your real-time location or photos that show your home address, licence plate or children’s school. Posting after you leave a location is safer.
